Dr. Madhuri Kasat Shors is the Chief Psychiatrist at Community-University Health Care Center (CUHCC) where she provides and oversees psychiatric care for a diverse population including immigrants, refugees, and individuals with significant structural adversities as well as capacities for resilience. She co-leads the Global Community Psychiatry track for the Adult Psychiatry residency program, teaches an annual seminar in sociocultural psychiatry, and supervises psychiatry residents during rotations at CUHCC. She is also a Faculty Advisor at the medical school. Her interests include topics that straddle public health, social justice, medicine & mental health: whole-person care, health equity, sociocultural dimensions of mental health and illness, trauma & attachment, the effects of racism on mental health, and mindfulness meditation & body-based healing practices. Additional interests include de-prescribing and reducing polypharmacy by addressing social determinants of health, psychotherapy, and collaborating with multidimensional teams & families.
